ShopMania feed for Shopify
ShopMania is a Romanian-born price comparison site running country portals across Europe and beyond, and one feed format serves them all. It also rejects broken product rows without telling you directly: the details sit in the Products stats section of your control panel. Feedflock builds the XML file ShopMania expects from your Shopify catalog, on a hosted URL you register once under Upload Settings.

Setup
Live in five steps
From a bare Shopify store to a listed offer: the whole setup fits into one coffee break.
Open a ShopMania merchant account
Register your shop with ShopMania. The feed URL goes under Settings › Upload Settings, with the upload method set to auto, so ShopMania then fetches the file itself. Approval of a new feed takes 1 to 3 working days.
Install Feedflock
Add Feedflock from the Shopify App Store. It reads your products, variants, stock and images directly through the Shopify API.
Pick the ShopMania template
One Product element per variant, and all six mandatory fields (MPC, Category, Name, URL, Image and Price) mapped from the start, with Manufacturer, MPN and GTIN filled from your vendor, SKU and barcode.
Check availability and categories
Availability goes out as In stock or Out of stock, two of the only four values ShopMania knows. Category is your own full path (never a ShopMania category) and comes from your product type by default.
Register the feed URL
Copy the hosted URL into Settings › Upload Settings. Feedflock regenerates the file every hour on the same address, so there is nothing to re-upload.

Catch feed issues before ShopMania does.
Before every generation Feedflock checks that every field the channel requires is filled, and, on templates verified against the channel's own spec, that the values fit its rules. Most problems are fixed with one click, without editing products in Shopify.

The channel
One feed, many markets
ShopMania runs one feed format across all of its country sites, so a single file, with the currency set to your target market, carries your catalog to every portal at once.
Matching runs on identifiers
ShopMania calls the GTIN very important for matching shoppers' queries to your products, with Manufacturer and MPN as the other inputs. Fill all three and your offers land next to the right competitors.
Your tags are welcome
The XML tag names are only a suggestion: ShopMania maps your own field names at onboarding, and accepts txt and CSV alongside XML. The template ships the documented sample's vocabulary, so nothing needs mapping at all.
The feed
- All thirteen documented fields, in the sample's own order and casing, with the six mandatory ones (MPC, Category, Name, URL, Image, Price) mapped from the start
- One Product per variant: MPC on the stable Shopify variant ID and a URL deep-linked with ?variant=, so every variant is a distinct offer
- Prices go out tax-inclusive as bare decimals with no currency sign, the ISO code in its own Currency field; set it per target market
- Descriptions stripped of HTML and capped at ShopMania's 200-character limit by the default mapping
- Availability derived from Shopify stock as In stock / Out of stock, with only ShopMania's four canonical values on offer
- GTIN from the Shopify barcode field. The spec documents UPC (12 digits), EAN (13) and ISBN (10 or 13), so a 14-digit GTIN belongs in a fix, not in the feed
- A hosted URL ShopMania fetches in auto mode, regenerated every hour, with fetch tracking that warns you if ShopMania stops pulling
Deep dive
How the ShopMania feed works
- You register a hosted feed
URLunder Settings › Upload Settings and ShopMania fetches it (auto mode) - Approval takes 1 to 3 working days, so a quiet first day is normal, not a bug
- The often-quoted 30-day update rule belongs to manual file uploads, not the hosted
URL - Feedflock hosts the file on a stable
URLand regenerates it every hour
Technical details
ShopMania reads one feed file in txt, CSV or XML format. In auto mode you paste a URL under Settings › Upload Settings and ShopMania fetches it on its own; manual mode is a direct file upload with its own rules, including the 30-day suspension for a stale file that people often misquote as applying to every feed.
A new feed is approved manually: ShopMania states 1 to 3 working days before products appear on the site. Feedflock hosts the file on a stable URL and regenerates it every hour, so whenever ShopMania fetches, it reads current prices and stock.
Thirteen fields, six of them mandatory
- Mandatory: Category,
MPC, Name,URL, Image and Price, plusGTIN(as theISBN) for books MPCis your unique product code, at most 100 characters, and should never change over time- The price includes all taxes except shipping, carries no currency and must match your site exactly
- Tag names are not a contract: ShopMania maps your own names at onboarding
Technical details
The specification lists thirteen fields, from Category to GTIN, and names six as mandatory: Category, MPC (your unique product code), the product Name, the product URL, the Image URL and the Price. A present-but-wrong mandatory field is as bad as a missing one, and ShopMania rejects the row either way.
The price carries the strictest rules: it must include all taxes except shipping (a separate field), contain no currency, match the price on your site, and must not be a customer-group price. And the XML tag names themselves are only a sample: ShopMania maps a merchant's own vocabulary at onboarding.
Four availability values and a silent drop
- In stock ships within 3 business days, Available for order takes 4 or more, Out of stock and Preorder complete the set
- Any other value must be mapped in Settings › Product availability settings
- An unmapped value is dropped without any error, so the availability simply never shows
- Withdrawn products must leave the feed entirely: out of stock stays, no-longer-sold goes
Technical details
ShopMania understands exactly four availability strings: In stock (ships in 3 business days or less), Available for order (4 or more), Out of stock and Preorder. Anything else has to be matched to one of them in your control panel, and if you skip that step, the value is dropped silently, with no error and no listing of it.
Just as important is what ShopMania does not want: products you no longer sell must be removed from the feed entirely, not marked out of stock. Feedflock's product selection handles that: exclude a discontinued product once and it leaves every generation.
One flat shipping number, and a switch that activates it
- Shipping is a single tax-inclusive number per product, in the same currency as the price
- Free shipping is written as 0.00; there is no carrier model,
CODfield or threshold - The field is inert until you tick Individual product shipping prices in Settings › Shipping settings
- The category must be your own full path; feeds carrying ShopMania's categories are refused
Technical details
Shipping is one flat number per product: the cost, with all applicable taxes, in the same currency as the price, with 0.00 for free delivery. There is no carrier vocabulary, no cash-on-delivery element and no free-above-a-threshold construct. And the field does nothing at all until you enable Individual product shipping prices in your account's shipping settings. Leave it unmapped and the account-wide delivery policy applies instead.
Categories follow the opposite philosophy: ShopMania refuses feeds that send its own categories. It wants your site's full path from root to leaf, at most 255 characters, with no prescribed separator. One warning from the spec: keep accessories out of main product categories, or the offers may be rejected or land in the wrong place.
The takeaway
One hosted URL, an hourly refresh and an XML file that follows ShopMania's specification field for field. Your Shopify catalog stays the single source of truth, and ShopMania always reads its current state.
