Rakuten France feed for Shopify
Rakuten France (the marketplace that grew out of PriceMinister) takes a single combined stock-import file: every row is an advert that carries the offer (reference, EAN, price, quantity, condition) and, when the EAN is new to Rakuten, the product content to create the sheet. Feedflock builds that file from your Shopify catalog as Rakuten's semicolon CSV, hosts it on a stable URL (the import method Rakuten's own FAQ calls the fastest) and regenerates it every hour. Note this is the retailer marketplace, not Rakuten Advertising, the group's affiliate network: that is a different product with a different feed.

You pay per sale, and the rate depends on the plan and category.
Rakuten France doesn't bill clicks. It takes a commission on every sale (12–21 % by category on the Classic plan, 6–16 % on Absolute) on top of a monthly plan of 39 / 199 / 499 € excl. VAT (published terms; confirm the current ones in your account). Pick a rate from either plan's range and see what a sale actually pays out. The commission comes off the euro price in your feed.
A promo price exists only inside a campaign.
Promotions on Rakuten start in the back-end: create a campaign first, and only then do the feed's columns mean anything: prix_promo carries the promotional price and prix_de_référence the strike-through one, both floored at 0.90 €. Without a campaign the columns stay empty, which is exactly the template's default; the slider plays the discount a campaign would carry.
One main image, one extra. The rest stays in Shopify.
The image is the one content attribute Rakuten marks required across the board (1,000×1,000 px, up to 10 MB, on a white or transparent background), and the account documents up to nine extra image URLs. As configured, the feed sends the main image plus the first gallery image after it. Anything beyond has no column.
Catch feed issues before Rakuten France does.
Before every generation Feedflock checks that every field the channel requires is filled, and, on templates verified against the channel's own spec, that the values fit its rules. Most problems are fixed with one click, without editing products in Shopify.
Setup
Live in five steps
From a bare Shopify store to a listed offer: the whole setup fits into one coffee break.
Open a Rakuten seller account
Fill in the self-serve “Open a Rakuten account” form on Rakuten France; an ecommerce consultant calls you back to finish onboarding. Plans run 39 / 199 / 499 € excl. VAT per month, content is French and prices are euro.
Install Feedflock
Add Feedflock from the Shopify App Store. It reads your products, variants, stock and images directly through the Shopify API.
Create the Rakuten France feed
Choose the Rakuten France template. One file carries both halves of every advert: the offer columns (référence, EAN, price, quantity, condition, comment) and the content columns (title, description, brand, category alias, image), all mapped from your Shopify fields with the template's defaults.
Validate, then paste the feed URL
Run the feed through Rakuten's File Validator (“Test a feed”) before the first integration. Content is write-once, so the first import must be right. Then paste the hosted URL into your account; the feed-URL import is the method Rakuten's FAQ calls the fastest, and product data updates typically take around 24 hours on Rakuten's side.
Configure shipping before you sell
Shipping never travels in the feed: set up the shipping grid in the account (Paramètres du compte → Expédition), because until you do, Rakuten charges 25 % of the order value by default. Sold-out variants stay in the feed at quantity 0; that is how an advert is withdrawn.

The channel
France's veteran marketplace
Rakuten France is the marketplace formerly known as PriceMinister, part of the Rakuten group. One site serves France plus francophone buyers in Belgium and Luxembourg: French content, euro prices, and no separate .be marketplace to feed.
Twice-a-week payouts
No setup fee; monthly plans at 39 / 199 / 499 € excl. VAT and a commission by category: 12–21 % on the Classic plan, 6–16 % on Absolute. Payouts land twice a week, on Monday and Thursday.
One file, and a URL is the fast lane
Unlike the Mirakl marketplaces, Rakuten France takes one combined stock-import file (no products/offers pair), and its own FAQ calls the feed-URL integration the fastest of the various product import methods, with a File Validator to test it first.
The feed
- One semicolon CSV with a header line (Rakuten's classic import, the account's Excel “fichier modèle” saved as CSV), hosted on the stable URL the feed-URL import pulls
- Offer and content in a single row: référence, EAN, price, quantity, condition and comment, then title, description, brand, the category alias and the image
- EAN matching from the Shopify barcode; the référence maps the variant SKU with a fallback to the variant id, kept stable across runs, because it is the matching key in the EAN-exempt private categories
- Stock clamped at zero and sold-out variants kept in the file at quantity 0, because Rakuten cannot delete an advert: zero stock is the withdrawal
- Condition preset to “Neuf” and a one-line comment covering warranty and delivery. Reconcile the exact spellings with the account's “fichier modèle” on the first import
- Promotion columns prix_promo and prix_de_référence mapped empty until a campaign exists in the back-end, plus the DSA economic operator as static values
- A readiness check flags the required columns (référence, EAN, price, quantity, condition, comment, category and image) before the first live run, because content cannot be corrected afterwards
Deep dive
One file, not two, and content is write-once
- Rakuten's catalogue import is a single “Import du stock”: each row is an advert with the offer and, for an unknown
EAN, the content to create the sheet - No separate products file, so no products/offers pair like the Mirakl marketplaces
- Once submitted, content cannot be updated (corrections go through Rakuten customer service), and deletion is impossible
- Setting stock to zero is how an offer is withdrawn; sold-out variants belong in the feed at quantity 0
Technical details
Rakuten France's import model differs from the Mirakl marketplaces on purpose: there is one “Import du stock”, and every row is an advert that carries the offer (reference, EAN, price, quantity, condition, comment) and, when the EAN is unknown to Rakuten, the product content needed to create the sheet. No products file to split off, no offers companion.
The rule that should shape your first run: submitted content cannot be updated by re-import. Corrections go through Rakuten customer service and deleting content is impossible; to remove an offer, you set its stock to zero. Proof the title, description and brand columns before the first live run (the File Validator is the mandatory pre-flight for a first integration), and keep sold-out variants in the feed at quantity 0.
EAN first, the référence privée for the exceptions
- Offers match products by the 13-digit
EAN; 12-digit EANs are converted, books use theISBN EANis mandatory for most categories; the exempt private categories (vêtements, chaussures, mobilier, décoration, bijoux) match on the référence privée- The category alias decides which content attributes are mandatory, and without it the sheet cannot be created
- Brands must exist in Rakuten's own brand list; variations only in whitelisted categories
Technical details
Rakuten matches offers to its catalogue by EAN: the 13-digit code (12-digit EANs are converted; books carry their ISBN). The exceptions are the private categories (clothing, shoes, furniture, decoration, jewellery), where the référence privée, your hidden reference, is the matching key instead. Keep that reference stable across runs: the template maps the variant SKU and falls back to the variant id.
The category alias is more than a classification: it is required to create a product sheet at all, and it decides which content attributes are mandatory in that category. The only one Rakuten marks required across the board is the image: 1,000×1,000 px, up to 10 MB, white or transparent background, JPG or PNG. Brands are validated against Rakuten's own brand list (an unlisted brand must be created on request first), and variations exist only in whitelisted categories; elsewhere Rakuten's team sets them up.
Plans, payout and the 25 % shipping default
- No setup fee; monthly plans at 39 / 199 / 499 € excl.
VAT - Commission 12–21 % on the Classic plan, 6–16 % on Absolute, by category
- Payout twice a week: Monday and Thursday
- Until the shipping grid is configured, Rakuten charges 25 % of the order value as shipping
Technical details
Onboarding is a self-serve form followed by a call from an ecommerce consultant. The commercials: no setup fee, a monthly plan at 39, 199 or 499 € excl. VAT, and a commission by category (12–21 % on the Classic plan, 6–16 % on Absolute). Payouts land twice a week, on Monday and Thursday.
Two costs live outside the feed. Shipping is configured in the account's grid (leader and follower amounts per zone and mode) and never travels in the file; until you configure it, Rakuten charges 25 % of the order value by default, so set the grid before you sell. Promotions are the second: they need a campaign created in the back-end first, and only then do the prix_promo and prix_de_référence columns mean anything, with a minimum of 0.90 €.
Two Rakutens, one group
- This template is the Rakuten France
MARKETPLACE, the retailer formerly known as PriceMinister - Rakuten Advertising (ex-LinkShare) is the affiliate network: a different product with a different, tab-separated feed
- The feed-
URLpull is documented in Rakuten's ownFAQas the fastest import method; updates typically take around 24 hours - The account's “fichier modèle” and the File Validator are the authority on the columns
Technical details
Same group, different product. Rakuten Advertising is the global affiliate network (ex-LinkShare) with its own tab-separated feed; this page and template are the Rakuten France marketplace at fr.shopping.rakuten.com. If you came here for affiliate links, you want the other Rakuten card.
Transport is documented first-hand: Rakuten's own FAQ calls the feed-URL integration “the fastest of the various product import methods” and points you to the File Validator's “Test a feed” section before you proceed. The column set behind this template is transcribed from integrator documentation rather than the account's downloadable “fichier modèle”. That file and the File Validator are the authority, so reconcile the headers on the first import. On cadence: product data updates typically take around 24 hours on Rakuten's side.
The takeaway
One URL for one file, with offer and content in every row, regenerated every hour from a template that already speaks Rakuten's stock-import CSV, with quantity 0 standing in for the delete Rakuten does not have. Your Shopify catalog stays the source of truth; the first import stays the one to get right.
