Schottenland.de feed for Shopify
Schottenland.de is a German price comparison site run by Schottenland GmbH in Berlin. It grew out of HardwareSchotte.de, online since 1999, and one price list still serves both sites. Feedflock renders that list from your Shopify catalog: pipe-separated CSV, gross EUR prices and one shipping total per payment method. It sits on a stable URL that Schottenland reads every 15 to 60 minutes.

Setup
Live in five steps
From a bare Shopify store to a listed offer: the whole setup fits into one coffee break.
Check that your shop qualifies
Schottenland lists shops that show prices in EUR including VAT, have a complete Impressum matching their trade licence and offer at least one payment method other than prepayment. Only new goods are shown: no B-stock, seconds or refurbished items.
Install Feedflock
Add Feedflock from the Shopify App Store. It reads your products, variants, stock and images directly through the Shopify API.
Pick the Schottenland.de template
Create a new feed and choose the Schottenland.de template. The columns are mapped from the start: article number from the SKU, product and variant title as the name, the gross EUR price, deep link, EAN from the barcode, vendor as manufacturer, delivery status from stock, image, description and product type.
Fill in at least one shipping column
Shopify has no shipping price per payment method, so the nine Versandkosten columns start empty. Enter the total for each method you offer, for example 4.90 for PayPal, or frei. Feedflock treats all nine as required until at least one of them has a value.
Register and send the contract
Register at anbieter.schottenland.de and enter the feed URL as your price list URL. Schottenland e-mails the contract. Sign it and send a scan with your trade licence to anbieter@schottenland.de, no fax needed. Schottenland then checks your shop by hand and maps the columns.

Catch feed issues before Schottenland.de does.
Before every generation Feedflock checks that every field the channel requires is filled, and, on templates verified against the channel's own spec, that the values fit its rules. Most problems are fixed with one click, without editing products in Shopify.

The channel
Two sites, one price list
HardwareSchotte.de is the hardware comparison site Schottenland grew out of. Both run on one merchant portal and one price list: one file, one contract.
Pay per click, no minimum term
Schottenland bills per visitor it sends to your shop. There is no minimum term: two weeks' notice to the end of a month, and the contract only takes effect once your offers are shown.
Prices that stay fresh
Schottenland reads your price list every 15 to 60 minutes. A new price or a sold-out variant does not wait for a nightly import.
The feed
- All 32 columns from Schottenland's field table, in its order, under the spec's own German names, so the person mapping your list at Schottenland recognises every one
- Pipe-separated, every cell in double quotes, CRLF line endings and UTF-8, the shape of Schottenland's own sample file, so a pipe inside a product name never shifts a column
- AAN from the variant SKU, falling back to the variant ID, so every variant keeps its own stable article number
- Produktpreis is the gross EUR price as a plain number with a dot decimal, a form the spec accepts as written
- Lieferzeit says auf Lager or nicht lieferbar from real Shopify stock, both wordings taken from Schottenland's own documents
- The nine Versandkosten columns count as required until you fill at least one, so a list that accepts no payment method shows up as unmapped fields before Schottenland ever reads it
Deep dive
How Schottenland reads your price list
- One
CSVfile at aURLthat never changes - Schottenland's bot reads it every 15 to 60 minutes
- If a fetch fails, the last good prices stay on the site
- A new feed
URLgoes into the merchant portal, not an e-mail
Technical details
Schottenland works on a file you host. Its bot fetches the price list from the same URL every 15 to 60 minutes and takes over the current data. The contract promises at least one read per calendar day. There is no upload, no SFTP and no API to integrate.
Feedflock hosts the price list on a stable URL and regenerates it as often as every hour. Keep that URL reachable: when a fetch fails, Schottenland keeps showing the prices from the last good read. Your offers stay listed, but with old prices.
Column names are yours, but frozen
- A header row is strongly preferred
- Names and order are free, and a person at Schottenland maps them
- Once set, names and order must not change
- A structure change has to be reported by e-mail right away
Technical details
Schottenland does not match column names automatically. During onboarding a person maps your columns to its fields, so the names can come from your own shop system. Schottenland's own sample file uses different names from its own spec. The template uses the spec's names, which are the ones that person will recognise.
The catch is that the mapping is fixed. Once your list is live, do not rename, remove or reorder columns. If the structure has to change, tell Schottenland by e-mail right away. The contract requires it.
Shipping is priced per payment method
- Nine columns, one per payment method, from Vorkasse to Finanzierung
- Each value is the total for that method, including all fees
- 0 or frei means free shipping
- An empty cell means you do not accept that payment method
Technical details
Schottenland does not ask for a shipping price per carrier. It asks for one per payment method, and every value is the full amount a shopper pays with that method. Shoppers must really be able to buy at price plus shipping in your shop. By default the site shows the cheapest method, and anyone can open the full list.
Shopify has no shipping price per payment method, so the template leaves all nine columns empty. That is the one place where empty is not harmless: Schottenland reads it as a method you do not offer. Fill every method you accept. Free shipping above an order value has no column of its own, so it goes into Versandkommentar.
Matching runs on EAN
- Automatic matching runs on the
EAN, 10 to 14 digits - The manufacturer number (
HAN) is strongly recommended - Offers that do not match still show up on search result pages
- Generic names like Samsung 160GB are ignored
Technical details
Schottenland assigns your offers to its products by EAN, and the template fills it from Shopify's barcode field. The manufacturer number (HAN) is strongly recommended too, because it often lets matching happen automatically. Shopify has no field for it, so the template reads the custom.mpn metafield. Unknown values stay empty: Schottenland warns that placeholders like 0 or nicht bekannt cause wrong matches.
Product names must be specific. Schottenland names generic examples like Papst 80mm or 1024MB RAM and does not process them at all. The brand may appear in the name. The template sends product title plus variant title by default, so make sure your titles say what the product is.
Contract, check and costs
- Registration asks for your trade licence, bank details and the feed
URL - The contract comes as a
PDF, and a signed scan by e-mail is enough - Every shop is checked by hand before the list is read
- Paid per click, no minimum term
Technical details
Nothing at Schottenland is self-service. You register with the feed URL, sign the contract and send it back as a scan with your trade licence. Schottenland then checks your shop by hand and maps your columns. Once the documents are complete and the list has no errors, the listing usually starts within a few hours. There is no shorter route for shops that connect through an app.
Schottenland's price list, dated 1 February 2023, has two packages. Flex costs €0.31 per visitor with no monthly minimum. Power costs €0.24 per visitor with a €24 monthly minimum. The contract can be cancelled with two weeks' notice to the end of a month. Taking part in the merchant rating and paying by direct debit are part of the contract.
The takeaway
One URL, a price list in the shape Schottenland's own sample uses, read several times an hour. Fill in your shipping totals once, sign the contract, and your Shopify catalog stays the single source of truth.
