Spartoo feed for Shopify
Spartoo is the French fashion and footwear marketplace behind ~26 localised sites (spartoo.fr, .de, .co.uk, .cz and more) where approved sellers list next to the retail catalogue. Its integration model is a hosted file it downloads every hour, exactly the shape Feedflock produces. Feedflock renders your Shopify catalog in Spartoo's provisioning XML: one product per style and colour, sizes nested with their own stock and EAN, prices in euro with a decimal dot, and regenerates it on your schedule, so each hourly poll reads current data.

Eight photo slots. The ninth never leaves Shopify.
Spartoo takes at least one photo and at most eight per product, delivered inside a <photos> wrapper as eight named elements, url1 to url8: jpg, square, at least 500 × 500 px, with zoom from 800 × 800 up. Feedflock fills the slots from the variant image and your gallery; anything beyond the eighth stays in Shopify.
Catch feed issues before Spartoo does.
Before every generation Feedflock checks that every field the channel requires is filled, and, on templates verified against the channel's own spec, that the values fit its rules. Most problems are fixed with one click, without editing products in Shopify.
Setup
Live in five steps
From a bare Shopify store to a listed offer: the whole setup fits into one coffee break.
Apply for the Spartoo marketplace
Selling is not self-serve: Spartoo reviews each application against quality, price, carrier and service criteria, and your brands must be approved for the seller account before they can list.
Install Feedflock
Add Feedflock from the Shopify App Store. It reads your products, variants, stock and images directly through the Shopify API.
Pick the Spartoo template
Create a new feed and choose Spartoo. Reference, name, brand, price, photos and the nested size list come mapped from the start: one product per colour, every size a child with its own stock, reference and EAN.
Fill Spartoo's code fields
Gender is one of H, F, M, K, G, B; the category is Spartoo's numeric code and the colour one of its 19 ids. The template flags a wrong gender code or an illegal reference before the feed ships.
Paste the feed URL
Copy the hosted URL into your Spartoo seller account. Its processor downloads the file every hour and imports what it finds. There is nothing to upload again.

The channel
One feed, ~26 country sites
Spartoo runs localised storefronts from France to Czechia: .fr, .de, .es, .it, .co.uk, .cz and more, all live. Your catalogue reaches the network through one integration instead of twenty-six.
A catalogue built for fashion
Everything about the format is fashion-native: a product is a style in one colour, sizes nest inside it, and gender, colour and material are structured codes that drive the filters shoppers use.
Hourly by design
Spartoo's processor downloads your feed URL every hour and imports what it finds. A price change or a restock in Shopify is live on the marketplace within the hour, with no file handling on your side.
The feed
- A template written against Spartoo's own spec page and checked against its skeleton, sample feed and XSD: the root is <root><products>, the wrapper elements are real and every tag name is verbatim
- One product per colour with every size nested in <size_list>, each size carrying its own stock, reference and EAN, the exact shape of Spartoo's own sample feed
- product_name goes out as the plain product title, never title plus variant. Spartoo rejects a name that carries the colour or brand (fatal 35), so the template never stuffs it
- Spec rules enforced at generation: the reference charset, the six gender codes, whole non-negative stock and the 65,000-character description are checked on every build and reported, never silently rewritten
- Per-size stock clamped at zero: Shopify reports oversold variants as a negative number, which Spartoo rejects (fatal 10); a size at 0 simply deactivates until the restock
- Photos inside the <photos> wrapper as url1 to url8, the variant image first, so an ampersand-proof CDATA name and a reachable main photo go out on every product
- Fetch tracking shows when Spartoo last downloaded the feed and alerts you if the hourly pull stops
Deep dive
How Spartoo reads your feed
- You provide a
URL; Spartoo's processor downloads the file every hour XMLorCSV,UTF-8:CSVcolumns are mapped on Spartoo's side,XMLtag names are fixed- There is no upload path and no
SFTPrequirement; merchants without a server are pointed at Dropbox - Feedflock hosts the file on a stable
URLand regenerates it every hour
Technical details
Spartoo's integration overview states the model plainly: you give them a URL that links to a file with all your product information, and every hour their processor downloads the file and integrates what it contains. No upload, no SFTP, and where a merchant has no server, Spartoo's own advice is Dropbox. A hosted, always-fresh URL is exactly what Feedflock provides, so the cadence is theirs and the freshness is yours.
Changes land on the next hourly pass. The documentation's own contrast with the webservice route is that the feed is not real time. Because Feedflock rebuilds the file hourly, every poll reads current prices and stock, which is what Spartoo's freshness rule asks for: the file must be up to date so unavailable items do not appear as in stock.
One product per colour, sizes inside
- For Spartoo a product is a style in one colour; each size is a child product inside it
- reference_partenaire identifies the colour variant of a style; sizes live in <size_list>
- Each <size> carries its own size_name, size_quantity, size_reference and ean
- A repeated reference is a warning and the duplicates are ignored; the same size twice is fatal
Technical details
This is the thing to understand about Spartoo: a style that comes in two colours is two products with two different identification codes, while a product can have multiple sizes nested inside it. Feedflock's template renders exactly that: one <product> per colour, with every size a <size> child holding its own stock count, order reference and EAN, the same shape as Spartoo's own sample feed.
Stock is per size and zero is a switch: when a size's stock is 0 the product is deactivated and no longer appears on Spartoo, so a sold-out item stays in the feed at 0 rather than disappearing. size_reference follows Spartoo's own recommendation: the product reference and the size name joined with an underscore, which is what their order and return exports use.
Codes, not names
- Gender is a closed enum: H, F, M, K, G, B; anything else is fatal
- The category is Spartoo's numeric code; a code that does not exist rejects the product
- Colour is one of 19 numeric ids; an unknown one only costs you the colour filter
- Shoe materials are numeric composition codes; Spartoo has no matching tool for materials
Technical details
Spartoo classifies by code. product_sex takes exactly six values (H, F, M, K, G, B), and the error message names them. product_style wants the numeric category code from Spartoo's published table of 398 categories (a name is tolerated only if you then pair it in the back-office matching tool), and color_id is one of 19 colour ids. Send a code that does not exist and the product is rejected; send an unknown colour and it imports, but drops out of the colour filters.
The same discipline covers shoe materials: the four composition fields (upper, lining, insole, outer sole) take codes from a 52-row table, each valid only in its own field, and Spartoo states there is no matching tool for materials. Feedflock maps these from metafields or constants, so the codes are chosen once per product group rather than retyped per size.
Photos, EANs and the feed's borders
- One photo is mandatory, three recommended, eight the maximum: jpg, square, at least 500 × 500 px
- Filenames allow only letters, digits, dash, underscore and dot; no spaces, no accented letters
EANsits on the size and is conditionally required: mandatory only with Spartoo's fulfilment service- Delivery, orders and returns are not in the feed; they run through Spartoo's webservices
Technical details
Photos live in a <photos> wrapper as eight named elements, url1 to url8. The first is required, below 350 × 350 a photo is not displayed, and from 800 × 800 up a zoom appears on the site. Two traps worth knowing: each photo is fetched once and stored on Spartoo's servers, so changing an image without changing its URL does nothing, and the filename may not contain spaces or accented letters.
The EAN question looks contradictory in the documentation until you read the French original: the English page says not required, while the French and German field tables mark it mandatory for the logistics service. In practice, a seller who ships their own orders can leave it empty and one on Spartoo's fulfilment service cannot. And the feed stops at the catalogue: delivery, order handling and real-time stock sync run through separate seller webservices, not this file.
The takeaway
One URL, an hourly poll, and a template that speaks Spartoo's own vocabulary: one product per colour, sizes nested, codes where Spartoo wants codes. Your Shopify catalog stays the single source of truth; all Spartoo needs from you is the seller approval.
