Hinnavaatlus.ee feed for Shopify

Hinnavaatlus.ee has compared prices in Estonia since 1997, the country's oldest price comparison site, with more than 3 million products and a forum of nearly 90,000 registered users. It sends shoppers to your shop, and the checkout stays with you. Feedflock renders your Shopify catalog into the XML price list Hinnavaatlus specifies, checked against their own schema, and hosts it on a stable URL that Hinnavaatlus downloads 7 to 8 times a day.

Setup

Live in five steps

From a bare Shopify store to a listed offer: the whole setup fits into one coffee break.

  1. Check that your company can join

Hinnavaatlus lists VAT-registered Estonian companies (OÜ or AS) that have traded actively for at least a year, and every advertised price must include VAT.

  2. Install Feedflock

Add Feedflock from the Shopify App Store. It reads your products, variants, stock and images directly through the Shopify API.

  3. Pick the Hinnavaatlus.ee template

Create a new feed and choose the Hinnavaatlus.ee template. Name, price, link, image, manufacturer, category, barcode and description are mapped from the start, in euros and in Estonian where your shop has the translations.

  4. Set your delivery times and product codes

InStore carries your delivery time in working days, 2-3tp and 7-14tp by default: change both to your real times. Code is the manufacturer's code from a metafield, left empty when you keep none, never your own SKU.

  5. Send your request

E-mail raud@hinnavaatlus.ee from your company address with your company details and the feed URL. You can test the URL first in the Hinnavaatlus validator.

Feed health

Catch feed issues before Hinnavaatlus.ee does.

Before every generation Feedflock checks that every field the channel requires is filled, and, on templates verified against the channel's own spec, that the values fit its rules. Most problems are fixed with one click, without editing products in Shopify.

InStore says Laos without a physical storeThe participation terms allow "in stock" only for goods in your own store in Estonia, ready to pick up. An e-shop sends a delivery time.

The channel

Where Estonia compares prices

Hinnavaatlus.ee has run since 1997 and is the oldest price comparison site in Estonia, with more than 3 million products listed and Estonia's biggest IT forum behind it.

Offers matched to products

Your offer lands on the same product page as every other shop's, matched by GTIN and then by the manufacturer's code. Shoppers compare prices and delivery times side by side.

The checkout stays with you

Hinnavaatlus is a comparison site, not a marketplace. The shopper clicks through to your product page and buys from you.

The feed

  • The template is built on Hinnavaatlus's own XML schema: <Pricelist> with one <Product> per variant, the seventeen elements in their names and case, and every rendered file checked against that schema
  • InStore carries a delivery time such as 2-3tp, as the participation terms ask of an e-shop, never a stock count and never "in stock" by default
  • Code reads the manufacturer's code from the custom.mpn metafield and stays empty without it: your own SKU never goes out, because it would mismatch offers
  • GTIN goes out only when it is the integer the schema accepts (8 to 14 digits), so one bad barcode cannot fail the whole file
  • Name defaults to the product title plus the variant title, and a name under 4 characters or a price of 0 is flagged before Hinnavaatlus sees it
  • Prices go out in euros including VAT with a dot and two decimals; variants that cannot be bought are left out by default

Deep dive

01

How the Hinnavaatlus price list works

  • One XML file at a stable URL, downloaded about 7 to 8 times a day at random times
  • The file has to be ready to download at any moment
  • Their validator takes the URL and checks the file against the schema
  • No upload, no SFTP, no API: the URL is the whole integration
Technical details

Hinnavaatlus downloads each shop's price list about 7 to 8 times a day, at random times, so the file has to be ready whenever they come. Feedflock serves the last complete file from a stable URL at all times and regenerates it as often as every hour, so every download sees current prices.

Before you apply, you can paste the URL into the Hinnavaatlus validator. It checks the file against their XML schema and answers "Hinnakirjaga on kõik korras" when everything is in order.

02

Seventeen elements, two required

  • Name (4 to 600 characters) and Price (greater than 0) are the only required elements
  • Category, Vendor, Code, GTIN, Description, InStore, URL, AdditionalInfo, Picture and ProductURL are optional
  • Payment6 to Payment48 carry monthly instalments for financing over 6 to 48 months
  • Element names are case sensitive, and each appears at most once per product
Technical details

Hinnavaatlus's XML schema is public, and its rules are strict: element names are case sensitive and the structure has to comply exactly. Only Name and Price are required, but the limits are real. A name under 4 characters, a price of 0 or a barcode with a letter in it makes the file fail their validator.

Picture may hold several image links in one element, separated by semicolons, up to 2,048 characters in all. AdditionalInfo is a short note shown with the offer, such as "Tasuta transport" for free delivery. The instalment fields stay empty unless you map your financing partner's amounts.

03

Delivery time, not stock

  • InStore is free text that Hinnavaatlus reads itself
  • An e-shop without a physical store in Estonia may only state a delivery time
  • "Laos" (in stock) is allowed only for goods in your own store, ready to pick up
  • A distributor's or importer's stock may never be shown as your own
Technical details

Hinnavaatlus's participation terms are clear about what a price list may claim. Only the real inventory of the company's own physical store, goods that can be picked up immediately, may be shown as in stock. An e-shop without a store in Estonia can only state an adequate delivery time.

That is why Feedflock sends a delivery time by default, in Hinnavaatlus's own form: 2-3tp when the variant is on hand, 7-14tp when it sells as a backorder (tp means working days). Set both to your real times. A shop with a store in Estonia can switch to "Laos" for goods on its own shelves.

04

Joining is a request from your company

  • Only VAT-registered Estonian companies, OÜ or AS, active for at least a year
  • Every advertised price must include VAT
  • The request comes from the company's own e-mail, with its company details
  • Listing can be suspended if the shop lands on the Consumer Protection Board's black list
Technical details

Hinnavaatlus is not self-serve. A shop sends a request with its company details to raud@hinnavaatlus.ee, and it has to come from the company's own e-mail account. Hinnavaatlus lists VAT-registered Estonian companies (OÜ or AS) that have traded actively for at least a year, with prices that include VAT.

Products already in their database are matched automatically, by GTIN first and the manufacturer's code second. New products that are not in the database go through Hinnavaatlus's own insertion admin, and a product that does not match stays visible in their full price list search.

The takeaway

One URL, downloaded several times a day, and an XML price list built on Hinnavaatlus's own schema. Your Shopify catalog stays the single source of truth, with delivery times and manufacturer codes exactly as Hinnavaatlus asks for them.

FAQ

No. The Hinnavaatlus.ee template renders the full structure for you: <Pricelist> with one <Product> per variant, element names in the exact case the schema demands, free text in CDATA. Every file is checked against Hinnavaatlus's own schema.
VAT-registered Estonian companies, OÜ or AS, that have traded actively for at least a year. A shop registered outside Estonia cannot join, whatever platform it runs on.
E-mail raud@hinnavaatlus.ee from your company's own address, with your company details and the feed URL. Test the URL in the Hinnavaatlus validator first; it answers "Hinnakirjaga on kõik korras" when the file is in order.
Your delivery time in working days, such as 2-3tp. Hinnavaatlus allows an e-shop to state only a delivery time; "Laos" (in stock) is for goods in your own physical store in Estonia, ready to pick up. Feedflock sends 2-3tp for variants on hand and 7-14tp for backorders until you set your own times.
No. Hinnavaatlus matches offers by GTIN and then by Code, and asks for the manufacturer's code only. A shop's own codes cause wrong matches. Feedflock reads the manufacturer's code from the custom.mpn metafield and leaves Code empty when you keep none.
It is left out. The schema types GTIN as a whole number of 8 to 14 digits, so a barcode with letters, spaces or hyphens would fail the file. Feedflock sends only barcodes that fit; fix the others in Shopify and they go out on the next run.
